March 28, 2007 | Laurie Anderson, Performance Artist, Musician

Beauty

Laurie Anderson, an internationally acclaimed performance artist and musician, will give her perspective on astrobiology and her time as NASA's artist in residence on Wednesday, March 28th at UA's Center for Creative Photography (CCP), and by live video feed in Harvill Auditorium Rm. 150.

Laurie Anderson will be giving a lecture rather than a musical performance.

The event will begin promptly at 7pm, with sales of signed books and CDs shortly after 8pm at both venues. It will be very popular, so late arrivals may not be able to be seated.

Advance (free) tickets are required for the CCP location and will available starting Monday Feb. 5th. As of Feb 7th, all tickets have been reserved for the CCP venue. See FAQs for information on tickets, main venue, and overflow (non-reservation) location. Tickets are not required for the overflow location (Harvill Auditorium) where a live video feed will be shown. However seating is limited in Harvill Auditorium and is first-come first-served. Audio/Video equipment will not be allowed in either location and cell phones must be turned off during the lecture.

Make a left on Park Avenue where pay parking is available in the Park Avenue Garage on the right. A pedestrian underpass will take you underneath Speedway. The CCP will be on the left. Harvill Auditorium (Rm. 150) is located immediately to the south of the CCP (heading away from the underpass).

What if all the tickets for the CCP are taken?
You do not need a ticket to see the talk by live video feed in Harvill auditorium, however seating is limited and will be on a first-come first-served basis.

No. For those that have tickets, seating is first-come, first-served. UA event staff will organize the line outside the building before the event begins. Doors will open at 6:30 pm. There will be a small reserved section for members of the Astrobiology and the Sacred Steering Committee as well as teachers taking part in the Astrobiology and the Sacred "Special Topics in Education" course. These people will have specially marked tickets.

What happens if I lose my ticket?
UA event staff will have a list of all ticket holders. On the night of the event, bring an ID and look for a UA event staff member when you arrive. They will check for your name on the list and give you an alternative ticket. You can then stand in line.

Why is this event being held in a small venue?
Laurie Anderson will be giving a lecture rather than a musical performance. It was the preference of the artist to hold the event in a relatively small, intimate setting.
